Persistence April 2026 Update

In April 2026, we concluded the Interop Incentivised Beta and continued working on BridgeKitty to simplify BTCFi cross-chain swaps for users and agents.

Dear Persisters,

Hope you’ve been keeping well.

April was a relatively quiet month across the broader market, but we continued to make steady progress behind the scenes towards the long-term vision of Bitcoin interoperability across BTCFi. As things continue to take shape, much of the focus remained on delivering the user experience needed to make BTCFi swaps more accessible.

One of the key areas of progress this month was BridgeKitty. While Bitcoin cross-chain swaps are already available through the BridgeKitty MCP for agents, throughout April we began working on making that experience accessible to a much wider audience through a dedicated product. Alongside this, the Incentivised Interop Beta was successfully wrapped up, providing valuable feedback, testing, and usage insights that will help shape future iterations across our products.

Below is a quick summary of everything that happened throughout April.

Summary of April’26 Updates

BTCFi Is Still Early

Bitcoin remains the largest asset in crypto, yet its share of total DeFi activity is still relatively small. Throughout April, we continued highlighting what we believe is one of the biggest opportunities in the industry today: bringing more utility, liquidity, and accessibility to Bitcoin through BTCFi.

While adoption continues to grow, there is still significant room for expansion. This reinforces our long-term conviction that the infrastructure being built today will play an important role in helping unlock the next phase of Bitcoin’s evolution.

BridgeKitty for BTCFi Swaps

One of the most important milestones during April was the beginning of development work on BridgeKitty.

While Bitcoin cross-chain swaps are already accessible through the BridgeKitty MCP for AI agents, the goal is to make that same experience available to a much broader audience through a dedicated product. Throughout the month, work began on laying the foundations for BridgeKitty, with a focus on simplifying the swap experience while maintaining access to the best available routes.

More updates on BridgeKitty will be shared in the coming months as development progresses.

Incentivised Interop Beta Successfully Wrapped Up

The Incentivised Beta campaign for Bitcoin cross-chain swaps officially concluded during April.

The campaign generated nearly $90,000 in swap volume across BNB Chain and Base despite intentionally conservative limits. More importantly, it provided an opportunity to observe real-world user behaviour, identify areas for improvement, and gather valuable feedback from participants.

Throughout the beta, several bugs were patched, swap flows were stress-tested, and insights were collected that will help shape future product improvements.

Beta Mainnet Reached ~1.15 BTC in Swap Volume

The Interop Beta Mainnet campaign recorded approximately 1.15 BTC in cross-chain swap volume, representing roughly $88,500 in transaction value at the time.

A total of 333 users participated in the beta campaign, helping validate the product under real-world conditions. Combined with learnings from previous testnet phases, the results further strengthened confidence in the growing demand for seamless Bitcoin interoperability.

The campaign also served as another step towards understanding how users interact with Bitcoin cross-chain infrastructure and where future improvements can deliver the greatest impact.

Building for the Future of Bitcoin DeFi

Throughout April, our CEO, Jeroen Develter, continued sharing our long-term view on Bitcoin and BTCFi.

For many users, the journey starts with Bitcoin itself before expanding into broader DeFi opportunities. As infrastructure improves and user experiences become simpler, the gap between Bitcoin and DeFi continues to narrow.

Get the Best Swap Across BTCFi

Throughout April, work began on BridgeKitty, a product designed around a simple principle: users should always get access to the best available swap route across BTCFi without having to manually compare providers, switch between applications, or search for better quotes themselves.

As the Bitcoin ecosystem continues to expand across chains and networks, navigating liquidity can become increasingly fragmented. BridgeKitty aims to abstract away that complexity by helping users and agents discover the most efficient routes available through a single interface.

That wraps up our April update.

We hope you enjoyed the recap, and as always, be sure to follow us across our social channels to stay updated on everything happening across the ecosystem. Thank you for your continued support.
