February was all about keeping the momentum going for Persistence One as we continued driving interoperability in the BTCFi ecosystem.
We announced our incentivized testnet, completed multiple quests, drove liquidity on Persistence DEX, and kept the community engaged through memes and podcast snippets. Testnet round one saw a peak of over 200,000 orders placed in a single day, reflecting the strong participation. A lot happened, and the momentum is only building as we move closer to our mainnet launch.
Get an overview of everything that happened in February 2025.
Persistence One Highlights
1) We teased the launch of our Incentivized testnet to build momentum before launch, following a detailed forum discussion in January that brought valuable community inputs.
2) At the start of February, we also announced a round of new incentives for Persistence DEX, providing more DeFi liquidity opportunities for our users.
3) We officially announced the much-anticipated Incentivized Testnet for Persistence DEX V2, drawing over 283,000 views on X (formerly Twitter). The launch went live with support for three chains on Testnet: Base Sepolia, BEVM, and Bitlayer, marking a major step toward seamless cross-chain interoperability for BTC.
4) To provide additional clarity for the participants, we shared an Infographic summarizing the details of our Incentivized Testnet campaign, alongside a step-by-step guide which you can find here.
5) We announced a Quest for Persisters with an additional reward pool, giving the community a chance to dive into the testnet, help us stress test it, and provide valuable feedback.
6) Then, you degens broke our testnet (in a good way!), which led to some quick maintenance. Curious about what went down? Find out in this post. We absolutely loved the enthusiasm!
7) In addition to stress testing and the feedback we received from the community, we published a blog that explores Bitcoin address types (Legacy, SegWit, Taproot, and L2s). Definitely worth a read if you are new to the BTC ecosystem.
8) We published some interim stats before and after Round 1 of the Testnet concluded. You can check them out here and here.
9) We launched a new ₿ootcamp Series, breaking down Bitcoin fundamentals in the simplest way possible to help new users get up to speed with the ecosystem.
10) Another milestone in February was for Persistence DEX V1, which surpassed ~$35M+ in volume swapped and reached 5,600+ users.
11) We also published the ninth instalment of our What’s Up Bitcoin series, diving into the latest BTCFi trends and happenings.
We’re all set for Round 2 of the Testnet, leading up to the mainnet launch. Let’s go!
Media & Community
Here are some standout moments on the media and community front for Persistence One in February 2025:
1) Our COO, Jeroen Develter, discussed how wrapped BTC variants on Ethereum brought assets to the tech, but didn’t quite succeed. With BTCFi, we’re now bringing tech to the asset.
2) Jeroen also highlighted why scaling Bitcoin must happen through sidechains and Layer 2s in the current landscape.
3) On the Paypod Podcast, Jeroen explained what cross-chain swaps are and how they’ll be different with Intents in our upcoming Interop product for BTC.
4) The Persisters discussed the idea of adding protocol-owned liquidity through fees on Persistence DEX to create a strong liquidity pool in the ATOM/XPRT pair. Since its launch in March 2023, Persistence DEX (formerly known as Dexter) has accumulated tokens from swap fees and instant unbonding fees, totalling nearly $35,000.
5) The Persisters also discussed a proposal to allocate 1M XPRT from the community pool to boost DEX liquidity in the forum, with subsequent voting which took place on-chain.
6) Persistence One was also featured in a BTCFi summary video by Morningstar Ventures, which you can watch here.
XPRT Governance & Token Highlights
Here are some of the most prominent highlights of XPRT governance in February 2025:
- Proposal #128 was proposed to allocate 1M XPRT from the community pool to boost DEX liquidity after a forum discussion with Persisters.
- Proposal #129 was proposed towards incentivization of Persistence DEX pools with stkXPRT, and PSTAKE rewards for March 2025.
About Persistence One
Persistence One is building the BTCFi Liquidity Hub, enabling fast, near zero-slippage swaps for XPRT, BTC-variants, and BTCfi tokens on Persistence DEX.
BTCFi’s rapid growth has created multiple BTC-related assets, making fragmentation a big challenge. Persistence One will provide a single liquidity hub, simplifying value transfer across the Bitcoin ecosystem.
